Girls Who Read: Part I

"I want a girl who reads, who feeds her addiction for fiction with unusual poems and plays, that she hunts out in crooked bookshops for days and days and days," says Mark Grist in his quirky poem, which is being adapted into a short film. A friend and former BAMMJ, Guy Larsen, invited me to shoot stills and behind-the-scenes photos during the project, which has received funding from Roundhouse.

Torquay

After nearly two months apart, I was reunited with my favourite person this weekend. While I have since accepted that student life is well and truly over, I have missed the friends I made in Bournemouth, Maddy in particular. I went to visit her in South Devon, where I was welcomed with wine and rump steak, marking the beginning of what I would aptly describe as a boozy and eventful weekend.

Maddy showed me around Torquay on Saturday afternoon, of which I had only ever seen glimpses in the glamorous music video for "The Bay" by Metronomy. We made plans for our own shoot on the picturesque pier, with Maddy styling summery high-waisted shorts with a cropped t-shirt and polka dot wedges. The gales were an unexpected twist to a very sunny day, but Maddy seems to look great in any weather, including blizzards. What else would you expect from Miss Torbay 2009?
