Lizzie, Earls Court

Street Style - Elizabeth Renfrey, Hyper Japan
Over the weekend, myself and Mission PR new girl Elizabeth Renfrey hopped off to Hyper Japan for all things cosplay and kawaii. Lizzie dressed the part in a stupendously pretty outfit she picked up in Tokyo, and quite naturally, I couldn't go home without taking a few photos on an enviously fancy street. Follow her London adventures on her blog, Broke About Town, including one or two remarkably bendy photos of yours truly.

Robinson & Dapper

It may surprise you to hear that, before this weekend, I hadn't a clue how to tie a proper bow tie. Shocking, I know. Truth be told, however, nearly all my bow ties are pre-tied with fastenings, so when I opened a parcel from Robinson & Dapper one morning, and I saw the loose - albeit beautifully patterned - fabric, I very almost recoiled in fear. All that looping and folding... Such a frightfully fiddly business! But in the world of menswear, knowing how to tie a bow tie is a rite of passage for all men, and I supposed it was about time I finally earned this important piece of gentlemanship.

I had contemplated filming a how-to video to accompany this feature, but I don't think you would have enjoyed an hour's worth of fumbling and stressy faces, as I repeatedly try and fail to fashion a length of tartan wool into something vaguely resembling a bow. But much to my immense relief, I eventually got the hang of it. And just as the brand suggests, it is rather dapper indeed, especially over a staple white shirt, which accentuates the greys and claret red of the tartan plaid.

Blanka, Weston Farm

Apparently, it is some sort of privilege to be featured on this blog, as suggested by my work colleague's squeal of excitement, when I asked to photograph her on a very sunny Friday afternoon. I couldn't have asked for a more picturesque backdrop either - the perks of an office in the Surrey Hills.

Summer Short Piece

When you think of summery outfits, I can imagine a onesie isn't the first image which comes to mind. A stifling jumpsuit in soaring temperatures? JK, please. What I described shortly before Xmas as the comfiest piece of clothing I own won't be so comfortable, when it feels more like a sweaty rag than a cosy all-in-one. That said, kicking back in my OnePiece sure beats mooching about in a dressing gown. Or in the buff, which I've gathered is frowned upon in most family households.

OnePiece Shortpiece

So I decided to try out OnePiece's aptly named "Short Piece" - much like their classic onesie, only less onesie. Cropped legs and lightweight fabric are the key differences in keeping the wearer cooler than a cucumber. In my preferred Chill College Onesie, the colours are neutral, and the hood has also been swapped with a snug shawl collar. My family still comment that I am, once again, sporting an oversized babygrow (if a babygrow resembles a Quarter Quell wetsuit), but why take any notice, when I feel happily lazy in the comfort of my own home?

Fancy a OnePiece for yourself? Until Friday 18th July, receive 15% discount at www.onepiece.co.uk with my exclusive promo code: SUMMERSHORTPIECE.

Thomas Farthing time traveller, New Oxford Street

Street Style - Sam, London Collections: Men
Another curious bystander at London Collections: Men, Sam's style is so much on par with 1920s fashion, it is as if he had travelled through time. A more realistic explanation is he works at Thomas Farthing, a nearby Bloomsbury boutique supplying garments reflective of Britain's most dapper bygone eras.
