So what is the Decibel Soup style? One might first regard it as Indie, but the guys protest. When dressing according to one's own individual style was labelled as a trend, it became mainstream and lost the point in being - as it was originally conceived - individual. No, this is "Magpie", as Errol has so cleverly coined. Just as the black and white bird gathers whatever catches its eye, regardless of value, the Decibel Soup team enjoy wearing whatever catches their eyes, whether second-hand or new.
"We're magpies - we take from every angle."
But of course, just as each of the Decibel Soup crew have their own preferences in the music they listen to and review day-to-day, they also have their own preferences in the clothes they like to wear. So for the curious readers, here's a brief list of their personal fashion and music must-haves...
Music preference: "The music I always listen to is music that suits my mood. If I want to go out, I want to put on grime music. If I'm getting up in the morning, I want something more like Jamie T. If I'm feeling sad, I listen to David Bowie."
Favourite artists: Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, David Bowie - "David Bowie is my all-time hero. I think he is the mother of music. Even though he's a man, he's a mother."
Personal style: "T-shirt and hoodie, day-time. When it comes to night-time, whack a shirt on top of that, and then you're sorted."
Music preference: "Pop punk, those sorts of bands. But I'm very diverse in my music."
Favourite Artists: Blink 182, NWA, Jay-Z, A Day to Remember - "Blink 182 are the daddies."
Personal style: "Whatever's comfy and looks good. I'm 50/50 with the comfort and the look."
Music preference: "I don't have a favourite type of music. I'll listen to any music from any genre as long as it's got melody, harmony, and sounds good."
Favourite artists: Brand New, Neutral Milk Hotel, Kanye West, Jamie T, Bloc Party, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.
Personal style: "I don't mind, as long as there's style. There's that quote from Yves Saint Laurent - fashions fade, style is eternal."
Music preference: "I'd say my favourite genres are urban, soul, grime, hip hop, rap, a bit of dubstep now and then, and drum and bass. I listen to everything, man."
Favourite artists: Wiley, Dot Rotten, Chipmunk, Wretch 32, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.
Personal style: "I've got a couple of snapbacks at home. And I currently have... 27 pairs of trainers."
The Decibel Soup team aren't music geeks, they're music lovers. And from the different outfits I see them wearing each week on Talbot Campus, I also know they love their style.
These four young student journalists belong to the fresh generation of modern music bloggers, so the Decibel Soup website is certainly worth a peek. But if you reckon it's worth bookmarking too, remember to follow them on Twitter and Facebook to keep up-to-date with all the latest music news.
Hopefully, I've done the guys justice with this blog post. I'll leave you with a couple more photos to admire and make as your desktop backgrounds. You know you want to.
