Skagen Pop-Up | Wallpaper* Hygge Christmas Market

There's a fair chance you may have heard the word Hygge in conversation this year. Continuing to grow in popularity all around the world, Hygge (pronounced "hoo-guh") is the Danish lifestyle of achieving cosiness and contentment, simply by enjoying the good things in life with the people you love. Unsurprisingly, Christmas is a natural occasion for practicing Hygge, and so to that end, Wallpaper* Magazine, with support from the Royal Danish Embassy, have assembled a pop-up Hygge Christmas Market in the heart of King's Cross, London, to celebrate the craftsmanship and creative talent of Denmark's capital, Copenhagen.

Among the Danish creatives showcasing at the market is accessories label and event sponsor Skagen, whose collection of watches, jewellery and leather goods is a beautiful infusion of contemporary design and Danish influence. New to the autumn/winter season is Skagen's Hybrid Smartwatch, which incorporates interactive technology into a beautifully made wristwatch. Only the three unassuming buttons on the side of the timepiece might give away its secret functions, which include activity and sleep tracking, e-mail notifications, and wireless connectivity with the wearer's smart phone.

The Wallpaper* Hygge Christmas Market is open 12-8pm daily until Sunday 18th December,
and can be found at 1 Wharf Road, King's Cross, next to Central Saint Martins College.

Maria Francesca Pepe SS15

A wonderfully fun and eye-catching range of statement jewellery, Maria Francesca Pepe's newest collection is designed around the theme of iconic cities. Each shimmering piece, boldly splashed with colour and jewels, takes inspiration from the lights and sights of such cities as New York, London and Las Vegas. To quote Mr Centipede: "Bright lights, big city - that's where we gotta go."

Push PR Press Day: #HelloPetal

Push PR's floral-themed press day was the prettiest I have seen this season. Aptly named "#HelloPetal", the showroom in Clerkenwell had been lavishly decorated with wondrous bouquets by famed florist Nikki Tibbles, while guests were served colourful Bloom Gin cocktails garnished with rose buds, as well as creamy cupcakes adorned with carnations. Push PR certainly did push the boat out with this season's theme, and I look forward to seeing what their next press day has in store.

Mawi jewellery SS14

I adore this dark and monochrome collection by Mawi. It falls in deep contrast with their spring/summer pieces from this year, which exhibited vibrant jewels and neon casting. Mawi describe their 'Metropolis' collection as "ΓΌber-futuristic", undoubtedly because of the industrialised aesthetic and metallic tones. Encrusted chokers, chain-link bracelets, robotic earrings and heavy-set cuffs connote power and luxury, that which is befitting of a mysterious and perhaps chaotic futurescape.

Matthew Campbell Laurenza jewellery AW13

I love exploring jewellery at press days. I wouldn't describe myself as a magpie, because it is far more than the shiny surfaces that spark my intrigue. It is the intricacy in the artistic detail, the beautiful colours of the jewels and enamel, and the inspiration behind each collection which make jewellery so exciting.

MCL's autumn/winter collection did just that at the POP PR press day. The collection appears to take inspiration from Ancient Egyptian culture, which it infuses into its ornate and jewel-encrusted designs. Each style is striking, exotic and glamorous, reflecting the wealth of the Ancient Egyptian elite.

John & Pearl jewellery A/W 13

The 'Poison' collection by John & Pearl fuses vivid colour with urban design, by weaving ribbon into metal chains and spikes. The compositions of the jewellery make for weighty pieces, but the styles are both bold and unique, and should therefore be worn in plain sight as statement jewellery. I love the contemporary aesthetic.

Dahlia jewellery & Xmas blogger party

Let's play a game... How many bloggers can we fit in the Dahlia boutique?

It came as a surprise to receive an invite to Dahlia's Xmas blogger party. The brand is very feminine, and let's face it, I am not their target consumer. However, the Dahlia team did thank me for attending, as they were keen to hear from a man's perspective.

My exploration of their cosy Carnaby boutique was limited by the hustle and bustle of at least a couple of dozen bloggers, but I came to adore Dahlia's vintage-esque dresses and cute collars. I was also particularly fond of the jewellery, which I could take a closer look at once the party had come to an end. The designs acknowledge the femininity one would typically find in jewellery, but incorporate punk-ish features, including skulls and spikes.
