The Bloggers' Market is a favourite event in my social calendar. Organised by five friendly and fabulous fashion bloggers, it feels much like the meet-ups I went to in my first two years of running this dear blog, where meeting like-minded people and even making new friends took precedent over goodie bags and brand exposure. That isn't to say we don't love our freebies, and The Bloggers' Market isn't without its sponsorships, nevertheless I feel the intent here is more so to bring people together - whilst of course helping five charming young women clear out their continually overflowing wardrobes.
Following on from the success of their
inaugural sale at
Camden Foundry, the fantastic five -
Carrie,
Olivia,
Lucy,
Kristabel and
Dunya - set up shop once more at the
Hoxton Hotel in Holborn. At their previous event, the girls had been literally overwhelmed by the unexpected turnout; on this occasion they were better prepared, having hired a handful of helpers, plus having acquired the edible assistance of popular foodie brands, including
Appletizer,
Krispy Kreme and
Yo! Sushi.
As a man attending a sale for women's clothing, there wasn't much
besides the food that I could take home with me. Still I had plenty of
fun, chatting with my pal,
Paige, and making my acquaintance with fellow menswear bloggers Anton from
The Style Division and Ben from
Twenty First Century Gent.
And yes, I couldn't help fooling around with one or two of Olivia's more
questionable items! But the highlight of the day had to be the acoustic
performance by up-and-coming musician
Shannon Wardrop,
whose songs were no less than beautiful. So much so, she's my new
favourite musician, and I would greatly recommend you give her a listen
too.
